Nghe An – A project uses wind direction adjustment to reduce weather impacts and save energy.
The three-story house, with a construction area of 350 square meters, is located in the province of Nghe An.
The local climate is quite harsh, with very hot and dry summers and cold, humid winters. Therefore, the design team focused on finding solutions that comply with urban planning regulations while minimizing the negative impacts of the weather, saving operational energy, and maintaining creative design effectiveness.
The proposed solution is to “block” the hot southwest winds by using recessed balconies and a double-layer door system while “opening up” a space for light, wind, gardens, and water features by shrinking the size of the living room and kitchen-dining areas.
A horizontal connection is established between the interior and exterior, making the space feel unified when the glass doors are opened. Meanwhile, inside the house, vertical connections are created through voids that enhance family interaction while still ensuring privacy for each member.
The entire living space is surrounded by gardens and fish ponds, helping to regulate the air, expand the view, and bring residents closer to nature.

The central void is the main highlight of the interior space, providing better lighting and ensuring natural air circulation.
As family members move along the staircase, they can admire the greenery while observing and interacting with one another.
The first floor is designed as a spacious common area, including a living room connected to the kitchen and dining area.
The dry and wet kitchens are arranged separately and equipped with modern appliances.
Bedrooms are placed on the upper floors to ensure tranquility and privacy. Each room has a private balcony with views of the surrounding landscape.
Thanks to the use of large glass partitions, the bedrooms receive ample natural light and have excellent air circulation.
The bathroom features an open design to optimize natural sunlight.
Hallways are well-ventilated and receive sufficient daylight, eliminating the need for artificial lighting during the day.
