Ha Giang – The northernmost community tourism destination is adorned with the pink of peach blossoms and the white of pear flowers in early March, attracting many visitors.
Lo Lo Chai is a village in Lung Cu Commune, Dong Van District, located near Vietnam’s northernmost point. The village preserves many traditional cultural features, with centuries-old earthen houses belonging to the Lo Lo ethnic people.
For the past three years, the village has been recognized as a Cultural Tourism Village. Many visitors compare Lo Lo Chai to Van Mieu Village in Yunnan, China, which became famous through the TV series Meet Yourself.
In early March, wild peach blossoms bloom brilliantly across Ha Giang in general and Lô Lô Chải Village in particular. Pictured here is one of the most beautiful peach trees in the village, attracting many tourists for photography.
The striking pink of peach blossoms stands out against the golden walls of earthen houses. Each household in the village has several peach trees, all blooming simultaneously.
Peach, plum, and pear trees are often planted together in home gardens and along roadsides. Initially, locals planted these trees not for tourism purposes, but due to increasing demand, many households have begun planting more, creating scenic spots for visitors.
Peach trees in Lo Lo Chai are at their peak beauty, with fully bloomed flowers and sturdy petals. This variety has five light pink petals, which appear even more delicate when viewed up close.
Photographer Giang Trinh, from Hanoi, visited Ha Giang last weekend and noted that tourists gather around the most photogenic trees throughout the day and night. “To take a picture without people in the frame, you need patience—either wait until late in the evening or wake up early, around 6:00-6:30 AM,” he said.
Giang also observed that homestay services in the village have improved significantly, now offering full amenities, including fireplaces for cold weather. The food is diverse and suits tourists’ tastes.
Local tour guide Giap Van Hai mentioned that Lo Lo Chai gets very crowded on weekends, with homestays fully booked. To avoid the crowds, visitors should come on weekdays.
According to early 2025 statistics from the Dong Van District People’s Committee, the village has 120 households, including 45 that operate homestays, alongside restaurants, cafés, and other services. Weekend and holiday stays see around 700 guests, while daily visitors average between 250 and 350.
Pear blossoms have also begun blooming in Lo Lo Chai and some other areas of Ha Giang. Pear flowers have thin white petals, larger than plum blossoms, and grow in clusters, creating stunning photographs under the sunlight.
Currently, Ha Giang’s weather is warm, with daytime temperatures ranging from 17 to 25°C, ideal for tourism activities. Peach and pear blossoms will continue to bloom for another two weeks. After that, the mộc miên (bombax ceiba) flowers will take over, particularly along the Nho Que River.
