Located about 24 km from Hai Phong city center, Kim Thien Pagoda (also known as Cat Tien Pagoda, situated in Quang Trung Commune, An Lao District) is not only a popular spiritual tourism destination but also a beloved “Instagrammable” spot for young people in Hai Phong.
In 2004, the People’s Committee of Hai Phong recognized the pagoda as a city-level historical resistance site.
Kim Thien Pagoda covers an area of over 3,000 square meters, divided into two sections. The front section is the worship area, featuring early 20th-century Nguyen Dynasty architecture, consisting of a three-room front hall and a main Buddha hall.
The rear section includes a Zen garden and a guest room, designed separately, offering numerous beautiful and serene photography spots. This area has become a favorite check-in location for visitors to the pagoda.
During a spring visit after the Lunar New Year, Nguyen Manh Hung, a visitor from Hai Phong, was particularly impressed by the stunning Zen garden at Kim Thien Pagoda.
“The monks and nuns at the pagoda have thoughtfully designed this space with various features and decorative landscapes, creating photogenic corners for visitors. For example, they have recreated earth walls along the surrounding fence, a wooden house, a tea ceremony corner, a small bridge, and a koi fish pond.
The monks and nuns are also very welcoming, allowing visitors to explore, enjoy the peaceful scenery, and take pictures in the Zen garden,” Hung shared.
Since Kim Thien Pagoda is a spiritual and historical site, visitors should dress modestly and appropriately when coming here for sightseeing.
Additionally, it is important to speak softly, walk gently, avoid loud noises, and follow the rules and customs to maintain the sacred and tranquil atmosphere of the pagoda.
From Hai Phong city center, visitors can travel across Niem Bridge to Kien An District, then head towards An Lao District via National Highway 10. After driving another 4 km, you will reach Quang Trung Commune.
At this point, locals can guide you to Kim Thien Pagoda, as the route is convenient and accessible, allowing both cars and motorbikes to reach the site with ease.
If you visit Kim Thien Pagoda, you can also explore other fascinating destinations in An Lao District, such as Nui Voi Historical and Scenic Site, Temple of Scholar Tran Tat Van, Temple of Female General Le Chan, Long Hoa Pagoda, Nua Pagoda, Quang Minh Pagoda.
Additionally, visitors should not miss the opportunity to try local specialties, such as An Tho fermented pork roll and field rat meat.
