The house is designed to blend into nature, offering a resort-like experience with both a basement and an outdoor swimming pool.
The house is located in Clarke, Virginia, on the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains (USA), with a total area of about 910 m². The architects’ goal was to make the house feel as if it had “grown” out of the terrain.
The structure sits tucked into a grassy hillside, surrounded by glass walls.
The roof extends widely, with a natural wooden ceiling that continues seamlessly from the interior to the outdoor porch. From different viewpoints, the building changes in form and proportion, making it appear as multiple separate volumes.

A curved gravel path leads to the villa. From a distance, the house almost blends into the surrounding hillside.
The entrance hall features a concrete floor and dark wooden doors. On the wall, freely mounted brass hooks serve both as hangers and decorative elements.
The living room and kitchen are arranged side by side in an open, double-height space, next to glass walls overlooking the forest and hillside.

The main bathroom features a freestanding bathtub placed beside a glass wall facing directly out to the forest.
The basement level houses a private spa area with an indoor swimming pool. Along the length of the pool is a sequence of repeating arches, with recessed lighting casting upward onto the curved surfaces and reflecting onto the water.
