A job advertisement in England is causing a stir among the public, as a wealthy homeowner is willing to pay a staggering salary of £60,000 (more than 2 billion VND) per year for someone to care for their pets and look after their private estate.
The information was posted on the recruitment page of the high-end staffing company Achieve Hospitality and was later reported by several British newspapers such as The Mirror.
According to the job description, the position is called “Live-In Dog Companion and Estate Assistant.” The work mainly revolves around caring for the family’s dog at a private estate in Surrey, a wealthy countryside area in southern England.
Not only has the job attracted attention because of its “huge” salary, but the successful applicant will also be allowed to live free of charge in a private house located within the estate grounds. All living expenses and utility bills will be covered by the homeowner, and the employee is also permitted to bring along their partner and personal pets to live with them.
According to the job posting, the family is looking for someone warm, calm, trustworthy, and fond of a quiet and tidy living environment. The work schedule runs from Sunday to Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., though it may be flexible depending on when the homeowners are staying at the estate.
In addition to feeding the dog, taking it for walks, caring for its health, and monitoring its daily routine, the employee will also need to keep detailed records of the pet’s condition, including feeding schedules, behavior, and visits to veterinarians, trainers, or grooming salons.
Besides caring for the dog, the applicant is also expected to assist with basic estate management duties such as receiving deliveries, overseeing the property when the owners are away, handling small errands, and supporting the housekeeping staff if necessary.
The job advertisement emphasizes that this is not a full-time housekeeping role. However, the employee may occasionally need to reheat meals prepared by the chef, do some light kitchen cleaning, or help with minor organizational tasks around the property.
Shortly after appearing in the British media, the recruitment advertisement quickly spread online because many people considered it a “dream job.” Quite a few internet users expressed surprise that simply taking care of a dog and living in a mansion could earn someone an income considered very high in England.
However, some opinions also pointed out that the position requires absolute trustworthiness, since the selected employee will live directly inside the private property of the ultra-wealthy while also being responsible for caring for a pet regarded as a member of the family.
