If your children show the following three signs, it is highly likely that they will have a high IQ as they grow up, especially if they are given the right investment to fully develop their potential.
Fondness for numbers
Many children have an excellent memory for numbers. They may display sharp thinking when it comes to numerical concepts, such as counting trees or candies, or remembering phone numbers, house numbers, or license plates after only hearing them a few times. These children demonstrate a keen mind and are likely to process information logically in the future.
You should guide these children toward activities like chess or puzzles. If your child shows an interest in numbers, incorporate number learning into everyday activities.
Doodling everywhere
A study found that children who can accurately draw the human figure at the age of three are more likely to be more intelligent than their peers during adolescence (ages 13 to 19). This conclusion was drawn from research conducted by psychologists at King’s College London (UK), who analyzed drawings from over 15,000 children aged 3–4. The research also showed that children who draw better tend to perform better on intelligence tests 10 years later.
Most children enjoy drawing because colors and images are tools for them to express their feelings. For one-year-old children, paintbrushes and walls are their way of expressing their inner world. At this stage, children are highly sensitive to art; the earlier they enter this phase, the faster their brain develops, opening up their thinking and creativity.
Many parents complain that their children doodle everywhere in the house — on the walls, floors, paper, furniture, etc. Some even get angry and punish their children for “drawing on things.” However, mishandling this behavior can negatively affect the child’s personality development. Therefore, parents should respond appropriately, such as providing drawing paper or designating a specific wall area for drawing.
Chattering all day long
Studies show that before the age of three is a golden period for language development. During this time, children’s language skills progress rapidly. Children over the age of one can speak single words, two-year-olds can form short phrases, and by age two to three, they can speak full sentences and express simple ideas.
At around two to three years old, children can understand simple content and express themselves in conversations. Even if they can’t read, they can look at a picture, grasp the basic meaning, and find suitable words to tell the story. By age three, they can understand more complex sentences and use sentence structures and conversational language more fluently and clearly.
Some mothers may notice that their child suddenly starts talking much more around age three — asking more questions, sometimes nonstop. Children can easily mimic others’ tones and sounds. In reality, this is a good sign. It reflects strong language skills and cognitive ability, indicating exceptional linguistic intelligence. If these curiosities are nurtured, the child will enjoy talking, learning, and exploring — which later translates to better communication skills and higher intelligence.
If your child talks a lot and asks endless questions, don’t scold them. Instead, listen to their thoughts and encourage vocabulary expansion. You can support them by buying books, listening to them tell stories, sing songs, or recite poems.
